Roseville's Antique Trove

Behold, the Antique Trove in Roseville, California. I'm a "midtown grrl," meaning I don't often venture into the suburbs but this place gives me incentive to go. To Roseville, a tiny little car ride into suburbia where green belts are worn to keep your pants up, nothing more. Lots of parking lots, tiny sidewalks.

The Antique Trove is a ginormous antique mall, that seemingly takes up a city block. I've been there 3 times now, and let's just say 3 hours there isn't enough time to see everything. It has the requisite stalls of chintz and old timey oak furniture, but there seems to be a new generation of antique dealers sprouting up, and the place seems to be electric with a modern fresher approach to collections.  I had the pleasure of accompanying two women of style there last week-end and we had a blast! Here are some photos of our fun day with some of my favorite "finds."

1) Kristy Green posing with this amazing paper mached & collaged dress form. The color is so amazing.
2) A glimpse of the elusive Kerry Dolan in a lovely vintage hand mirror. 3) A close-up of this wonderfully large Bakelite broach of flowers. I really wanted to take this home! 4) Kerry, and yours truly modelling some hats. Tres belles! 5) This crazy '80's purse that would go with EVERYTHING
6) The lovely Ms Dolan showing me her pineapple. 7) My favorite find of the day: a gold lame vintage handbag from the 1950's. Handpainted scenes of travel and romance decorate the sides. Yours for a mere $69.50. 8) My partners in crime.  9) Crazy gorgeous antique furniture. Sigh. 10) There was a tiny old book and record store there, complete with wooden Indian. 11) Kristy showing off her beautiful profile. 12) Moroccan, Mo' fun: a medieval era antique day bed with custom horse-hair pillows. The good life. 13) A lovely piece from my second favorite "stall." It was a huuuge space full of mind-blowing antique furniture, Asian pottery and collection of Russian Ikons. (If I ever win the lottery, this guy Riley is going to be a very rich man.)

We spent hours looking around, and I don't think we made it all the way through. Hunger drove us away and we made our purchases before finding a delicious all-you-can-eat Indian buffet, that happened to be located next to an American Cancer Society charity shop. Which we managed to plunder as well as the local Goodwill. GOOD TIMES!
