J'taime jeggings!

So I did it. Went out there and brought along my camera. It was a grey, dismal day, with a spatter of scattered showers, but I brought an umbrella, and my camera, and a notebook, and some gloves, and..and...well, you can probably tell, I like to go prepared.

My day was a bit different than normal. I went to a training seminar of sorts for my "real" job. The one that pays the rent and bankrolls most of my thrifting habit.

By day I'm a vegetarian, organic cook. I run the kitchen at a preschool, and last year we put an organic garden in. This year, today actually, I attended a training seminar on gardening for preschoolers. And it was awesome. Lots of info to ingest, and to make it easier they plied us with a delicious, beautiful and healthy lunch. And gave us magazines and free seeds, and promised us a "garden kit" that may or may not include children's gardening tools and a wheelbarrow. Cool, yah?

Cool also was the rainy day. April showers for those May flowers, I suppose. To make my day easier, my sweet b*friend played taxi man for me so I wouldn't get caught in the rain taking the light rail. Then he insisted he pick me up. So the rain didn't bother me so much as play back-drop to my outfit. Which brings me to this....

Today I took photos! Well, more accurately, today I had my sweet and considerate boyfriend take photos, and he was a pretty good sport about standing in the rain on my lawn and snap some quick shots of me. Of course, I think the outfit looked better in person, and I'm more charming in the flesh than on camera, but I posed my best in my brand new jeggings. Here you go-

Ok. I don't think they are the most FLATTERING photos, but they do in a pinch. Ouch.
Looking at said outfit, I've noticed it is remarkably free of vintage elements. Everything looks a bit contemporary, although almost everything, except the new jeggings, have been in my closet for quite some time. I do like clothes that can give me a lot of mileage.
Now wearing:
Black Mohair Hat from Australia: Gifted. Given to me by one Kristy Green. She got it on her visit to Australia. Does that make it a souvenir?

Billabong label, Grey wool jacket with elbow length ruffled sleeves: Macy's California.

B&W Polka Dot & banded striped T-shirt: Forever 21.

Cotton Sash in an abstract black & white print: Thrifted.

Colbalt Blue & Black Striped "Mod" Cardigan: Target, on clearance.

(Altered) Denim skirt: Macy's California. This skirt is about 5 years old, so that makes it 35 in dog years.  It was originally a below-the-knee full circle skirt, but has since been altered, shortened with a bubble-style hem.

Jeggings from Target. I got these jegging (jeans + leggings = jeggings) recently at Target. I grabbed two pair, for 12 bucks a pop and came home and told my friend Kerry about them. We went back the next day to pick her up a pair and....THEY WERE SOLD OUT! I'm really glad I'm a bit of a freak when I like stuff and buy them in mulitples, and bought 2.

Black Leather "Pirate" Boots: Thrifted.

here's a close up shot of these adorable "jeggings." Maybe I just like saying it: J-e-g-g-i-n-g-s.
I almost forgot to mention the purse! It's vintage, circa 1980's in a beautiful bright cobalt blue. I love the envelope shape & gathers in front. Plan to see it in future outfit posts!
