Jean Paul Gaultier's collection for Target is in stores now, or at least what's left of it. My local Target always sell out quickly. I was lucky enough to get one of the last of his perfect little summer dresses. It's a cotton black & white floral print with dot cut-outs, a vague sort of eyelet with a crisp white crinoline slip underneath the skirt. This becoming halter dress can effortlessly fit a layer beneath it on cooler days, but will be just the thing for the hot, languid Sacramento summer nights to come.
Target stores are dangerous places. At least on the pocketbook. I'll go in for cat food & kitty litter and scotch tape and leave with a killer pair of shoes, a dress, a new lipstick, an impulsively picked plant for the garden, will have forgotten the much needed scotch tape, and have a much thinner wallet. D-a-n-g-er-o-u-s. But, I do love that store. In fact most items in above outfit have been acquired from the tempting Tar-jay. The grey & black striped sweater, the strappy black leather gladiator heels and JPG halter dress are all Target purchases. The sweet little floral headband is from Forever 21, another dangerous place to visit on payday. The polka dot sleeveless slip (really a skirt hiked up really, really high), the polka dot purse & striped cotton socks are thrift store finds.
Shopping at Target, just like shopping at a thrift store, is like gambling at a casino. One must be willing to be impulsive and reckless on a find, because that object of desire may not be there on your next visit. You never know when you're going to hit THE JACKPOT. So it is best not to go unless you're willing to shell out when you stumble across that something you didn't know you needed until that very moment. Like this dress. Which is probably why my piggy bank is very hollow at the moment. This Miss has hit the Target one too many times.

Life isn't always black & white, but when dressing for a good one, you'll always look sharp when you are.
Here are some great pictures of an building trend: the black & white striped jacket. And if a version of one of these numbers shows up in the woman's department on my next trip for kitty litter, this cool citizen is going to be in hot water.
