I decided to break out some cat power today. With a handful of my new Modesto thrift-store acquisitions, I put together a quirky little ensemble that is part 1950's Italian vixen & part African queen. Because what better pairs with leopard print than a bit of black lace? The centerpiece of my outfit is the wonderful vintage leopard print pill-box hat that I picked up in Modesto. And to drive the cat theme home, I even wore my new-t0-me old pair of cat-eye sun glasses also a score from my recent expedition.
After putting the outfit together, I thought it shared some common themes with the wonderful Fall 2010 collection by Dolce and Gabbana, who also seems to play with the iconic screen siren prints of black lace and leopard.

I ran into two of my favorite people when I walked over to my neighborhood Crepeville for a bite, Barbara Rameriez and Kris Laskey who were already there finishing their lunch. All's I know is that hours flew by, and I got a major love buzz from hanging out with them. Barbara even kindly snapped some pics of my outfit. I then got to pay a little visit to Kris' studio. Her place is packed with her Butt Ugly creations. She is so inspirational! I love the way she takes vintage designs and fabrics and creates amazing new items like vintage styled coats made out of old blankets, bags using old purse handles and hardware, and some of the prettiest, most comfortable dresses I now realize that I can not live without. One of these days, I'd love to take some photos of her studio so you can see what I'm talking about!
