Elevenses

Happy New Year from the Citizen Rosebud.

11.

The 21st century is now a ten year old
& we are dipping our cold feet
into the icy waters of a new decade.


YOU, my friends,
are breathing the air of the future.
YOUR future.
And drunk on the new
you are clumsily kissing
the year
that every yesterday proclaimed
a tomorrow.

Elevenses.

Ah, but the minutes,
the hours, the days
are turgidly kissing you back.
Ardently.
Urgently.

The tablet is blank, your tabula rasa,
waiting to be writ upon. 
All hopes and dreams (naked & wet)
lay coiled, panther silent
in the hunger of your fingertips:
inky tigers dreaming
the alphabet of the impossible.

    Ah, friends, I could think of nothing better than wishing all of us a very satisfying new decade. It feels historic in some way, I'm not sure if in general or for me personally, but I say pay attention/watch out! Big, beautiful things are about to happen! <3
