Ladies, and one gentlemen: my bags are packed. I'm heading to Seattle.
I'm going to be paying a short visit to this fine and beautiful city to work with this lovely woman:
Shanley Knox, founder of the Nakate Project |
Her name is Shanley Knox, and she is the founder of the Nakate Project. Nakate is an ethical fashion company that sells jewelry made by the women of, and support a village in Uganda, Africa. You can read more about what this
project is about on their website: nakateproject.com
I recently met with Shanley to do an interview, and was so smitten by her and her vision that I decided to follow her around, to see for myself how Nakate blends fashion with philanthropy. Recently, the Nakate Project has been involved in some cool fashion events, and Shanley was super excited to be included in the upcoming fashion show, Sugar Does Seattle.
Sugar is a series of fashion events put on by the L.A. based Mad Girl Productions. Mad Girl Productions is a company hell-bent on promoting multi-media arts and support the artists who create them.
So I'm off to Seattle for a little investigative reporting, and if I'm lucky, some good clean fun. I've got a few friends living up there so I'll be taking my time coming home. I'll be back next week, and hopefully be full of inspiring stories to share with you.
If any of you are in the Seattle area, and want to meet with me be sure to grab yourself a ticket and swing by the Nakate booth and say hi!
Tweet at me if you're in the neighborhood: @citizenrosebudz
Seattle's up and coming, underground artists, designers and fashionables get showcased this Thursday at Sugar Does Seattle fashion event, July 14th, 8 pm- 2 am at the Volume Nightclub in Seattle.
