Hometown

In your mind's eye, how do you remember YOUR hometown?
Memory lane can be a two-way street.

  1. Very evocative photos, CR. I remember my hometown as very big, and when I have seen it since, it is so small : >

  2. When I think of my hometowns (I lived in several shitty rural communities before I left the nest for the 'big city') I invariably start humming the song 'Shit Town' by Live. Remember them?

  3. I should add, I do hum the song fondly, in spite of its negative vibe.

  4. I don't live far from my hometown today...so something about it definitely agrees with me. We have definite seasons and wonderful scents of barbecue in the air. And good jazz and great art...

  7. I still live in my hometown, Toronto. I think of it as being all about the distinct neighbourhoods. You can pass through different worlds by travelling a few miles. Little Italy, tony Yorkville, the Annex, the Beaches, downtown: so many different flavours to discover!

  8. We moved so often growing up I don't really have a home town, but I lived a long time in New York and do pine for NYC.

I loved that photo of you and WendyB by the way!

  9. These photos are so great. I moved around too much. So, I don't really have a hometown of my childhood. But Oakland, CA is my home for the past 21 years. So, it's my hometown now, I suppose.

  11. This question is as tricky as one asked of me last week (Which of the 6 cities that you've lived in is the best?) I have so many "home" towns it seems, and they were all the best place for me at that particular moment. So I remember each one through rose-colored glasses. I hope they see me the same way! ;-)

  12. I had such a steep hill to climb to get home from school! Of course, as an adult, it looks like just a hump:)) xo
