Plaid season has officially begun. I don't care what actual season your part of planet is in, be it winter, summer, spring or fall, YOU are going to be into plaid. So, get used to this perfect p-p-p-print of both rebels and royalty, the cut of cloth that is both classic and quirky, staid and superlative. Say hello to PLAID. Because I'm almost about to tell you that "IT" is IN. But it never really ever left, did it?
My outfit styling is ala Marc Jacobs circa Spring 2009, donchya think? The dress may look familliar to you; I wore it this summer when it had sleeves. Ah the downside of loving vintage: one deals with the ravages of fabric rot. The sleeves had some condition problems which I, uh, "cured" by removing them. So I'm enjoying my hot-as-summer September sans sleeves.
Now Wearing:
- 1950's vintage straw hat, Crimson & Clover
- vintage cotton dress, Freestyle
- gingham belt
- Coach espradrilles wedges, Macy's
Ooh, I love the dress! The color is gorgeous and perfect for fall. And you're right: polka-dots are old news. ;)
ReplyDeletewell, I'm not a fan of plaid, but this pattern of your dress is awesome (maybe because it's not the classic plaid!!!)Love the colors of the dress and the styling with the hat! You did better than Marc Jacobs!!

Love your re-doing of the dress - it looks so YOU now. I enjoy your posts so much.
ReplyDeleteOooooo, this is so chic Bella!! I love dresses from the 50s.
ReplyDeleteLove, love this! Great silhouette, hat, colors and patterns. And I like Marc Jacobs any season! And you have reminded me I am still looking for a plaid kilt to replace one I had in my 20s.
ReplyDeleteMarc Jacobs circa Spring 2009?! In this case, it never did leave, as he did plaid some 20 years before for his first collection around the same time Seattle turned up and the alternative nation rose up in the mainstream.
ReplyDeleteAs for what I'll be wearing, I have a blue plaid wool coat in need of repair/dry cleaning, but once fixed, it'll be on me in time for the falling leaves!
My condolences for your sleeves, btw. That said, the dress still looks great on ya, especially with the hat and sandals. :)
I am loving that plaid dress! And plaid is the shit!! I mean you've got all kinds to choose from and all different colors.
ReplyDeleteomg im so in love with that dress. i bet it would look awesome with some sheer chiffon sleeves! oh, and plaid didnt go anywhere, it has always been in my lumberjack heart. long live angela chase!!

I prefer the dress with the sleeves. I was never really into plaid until this year when a whole bunch of designers started incorporating the print. I guess you can say it grew on me. Hope you're well Bella.

ReplyDeletePlaid is timeless and your dress is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou've got quite a hat collection!
I don't have a problem in the world getting rid of sleeves! Now if you ever decide to sell this dress, I want first dibs! Looks great on you!!! Hugs to you! ~Serene
ReplyDeleteYou look magnificent! Way better than Marc Jacobs in my opinion. I love plaid, but I don't think I actually own any right now. This is something I will have to fix if it is now Plaid Season!
ReplyDeleteI love the color scheme of this plaid. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI want this dress in plaid and polka dots. LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteDon't love the belt but the rest of the outfit is DIVINE! HAT and dress!
ReplyDeletePlaid is wonderful, and you wear it so well! Love this outfit...I miss Sac!
ReplyDeleteRecycling vintage looks gorgeous on you! How clever. Love the color.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently having an obsession with an olive drab military-esque cotton jacket worn over pretty much everything. I really want to get into the plaid but it's still just too warm.
ReplyDeleteAh so beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI love your dress! I also polka dots but I'm going to try to get on board with the plaid trend. I recently bought a plaid shirt that I'm yet to figure out how to wear

This is one of the cutest plaid dresses I've ever seen! You're rocking this look, Bella!
ReplyDeleteReading this post, I was given an "ah-ha" moment. Now I know what to do with a vintage Indonesian batik shirt that also has a sleeve fabric rot problem. Genius of you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing with 52 Pick-me-up. You dealt me a plaid full house.
