A Momentary Lapse of Whimsy

Whispering Whimsy: designing duo Johnson + Kniss are the fashion engine of Van Der Neer
Sacramento has been experiencing a sort of fashion renaissance as of late, and one of the many highlights I've had this year was the opportunity to meet and interview some incredible talent that hails from my hometown. Two such bright lights I've recently met are the design team behind local  fashion label, Van Der Neer.  A couple in real life, this pair of cuties are the indisputable indie fashion darlings of Midtown. Modest and sweet,  they produce memorable collections of edgy arty fashion.

My interview of Van Der Neer has been published over at CBS Local and you can read it by clicking HERE.

Of late, I've been experiencing a bit of feast AND famine. I'm needing to focus on my livelihood, namely paid freelance work, and selling my line of Citizen ROSEBUD/ curated vintage. As usual, I seem to take on too many projects (I mean well!) and end up bailing on a handful of them. For those who've had to deal with this: my apologies.

True be told, I'm now struggling to earn a living, and a lot of what I've been doing has been gratis, free of charge, and put bluntly, it's not helping me one drop here in Rosebud-land. I've been freelancing for a year now, and it's crunch time. For survival sake, I've got to focus on earning my keep. I hope you understand, but I'm not going to be able to read/comment on my blog roll for a while, please don't take it personally.

If you'd like to show your support, please do so! If you blog, consider sponsoring mine and I'll add your widget to my page. Email me for a special blog-friend rate. You can contact me: Bella (at) thecitizenrosebud dot com. If you are in Sacramento, drop by Fringe and shop my rack. Feel free to check my SHOPTHECITIZEN blog for upcoming sales and shows. 10. Yes I'm too far away too. Pity as there is no vintage here. Hope you find some good jobs soon!

  11. I'm glad to hear you're staying focused! As women I think it's very hard for us to say "no". Often, I find a polite "no" is taken quite well, and no one is offended (except maybe my Grandma, but she's just like that.) So go make some money! Don't worry about the comments. We'll all still be here.
