I'm going to come out and say it: this outfit doesn't feel like "me." As I adjust to different summer conditions than I'm used to, (going from sunny California to rainy Seattle takes some adjusting for me) so I'm tweaking my style to meet the challenge of a cooler clime. As Sacramento hits the 100's, my Seattle summer days are sometimes cloudy + rainy; even a "warm" day barely touches the 70's on its tippy toes.
Hence the embracing of the summer sweater. I need a little more cover, a little more warmth in my clothing. So pulled on a pair of long pants, summer white skinny jeans and a comfy loose fitting cotton sweater from JACOB. I love the cut of the sweater, kinda modern and classic- and I love the boxy cut with the tighter sleeves. The tweedy colors are beautiful, the salted black + white with a satuated amythest, but personally, purple never feels like "me." If it were a different color (and by different I probably mean RED,) I'd probably be wearing it 24-7. But it went beautifully with my magic glitter booties, and the elegant art-glass necklace.
What you won't be seeing again are these skinny jeans. I can't stand wearing long pants! I was uncomfortable the whole day- the pants were at once too tight in the thighs, and sliding down at the waist. And now after seeing the pics, I feel the look is wholly unflattering to my figure. So uncomfortable and unflattering gets a big veto. I've since chopped them off- they are now Levi cut-offs, and I think I'll be getting more wear out of them as shorts.
Now Wearing:
Art Glass Necklace, available HERE
Drop Shoulder Sweater, c/o JACOB
Thrifted Skinny Levi's
Magic Shoes available HERE
Necklace and the blue booties....love it!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend dear.
I don't understand the concept of a cool summer...but then my climate is totally tropical, think SoCal. But the pants look fab either way!!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a fabulous outfit - it's what I call Casual Glamour!
ReplyDeleteWell helloooooooooooooo gorgeous!! I love you in purple and I think I need to see you in those booties for the next three posts straight ... SQUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
ReplyDeleteOur Brisbane summers are hot and sticky, but if we have some in-between days I make the most of them with maxi's and leggings. xoxo
I *love* that sweater - the color and the shape - but you do shine more in brights. For "cool summer" (that's "winter" here in FL) I like maxi or midi skirts and a sweater like the one you're wearing, with a jean jacket nearby. Agree that pants are not the most comfortable option. Your necklace is divine!
ReplyDeleteBella, I'd wear this whole outfit in a skinny minute!!! I absolutely LOVE it!!!! And I've been pining for that necklace since the first time I saw it! I may have to snatch it from your store very soon! And I also feel the need to mention that you have a gorgeous figure..... And in these pictures it really shows it off! LOVE LOVE LOVE this whole look! Big hug! ~Serene
ReplyDeletesuch a gorgeous outfit! We have similar weather I think, I tend to wear dresses and skirts with leggings and cardigans, I suppose I should vary it a bit!
ReplyDeleteI agree that red absolutely is your colour, but these colours are good on you as well, and the blue booties are pretty damned awesome. I love that necklace sooooo much!
ReplyDeleteThis look is not the usual Bella, but it is fab!! I love the blue shoes and that awesome necklace!!
ReplyDeleteI think you look fab in purple actually, and the Levis look great, you've got a cracking figure, Bella. Maybe the jeans just didn't fit right if the waist was too big but the thighs felt tight? I can't get jeans to fit me properly, as I have demonstrated on the rare occasions I wear them!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean if an outfit doesn't feel right though, but it's always worth a try.
I wear a maxi dress/skirt with a cardigan or denim jacket on cool summer says (that's what I'm in today). Or a shorter dress with leggings. I'm sure you'll figure out what works for you! xxx
It seems that the Seattle climate is very similar to the Scandinavian. In our short, wet and cold summer we wear warm clothes but in summer colours! I've seen shorts worn with coloured tights and wellies, cardigans, longer skirts, leggings and warm scarves. Yesterday I actually considered buying leather gloves in a lighter colour, for summer outfits!
ReplyDeleteI think you should keep the sweater, it's beautiful on you, and mixed with the right scarf it wouldn't "feel" so purple!
Hello beautiful, what an absolutely adorable sweater and cool looking necklace. I love the shots of you on the grass. I bet it smells nice.
ReplyDeleteYou look cute enough to me in this outfit, but if it doesn't feel like you, toss it!!! I've been struggling with staying warm and feeling summery in this weather as well. I'm sticking to light scarves, layering cardigans, and summery bags. Good luck, Bella!

Oh my gosh Bella I think those jeans were super flattering on you! Don't know if they "go" with the sweater but it's always hard to dress when the weather isn't what you're expecting. The photos of you in the grass are great as well.
ReplyDeleteHope all is going well up there in Seattle!
I totally, 'LIKE TOTALLY' love your hair! If this color was available back in the day when I used to change mine almost every other week, I would we sporting this shade. You look terribly young too Bella Q. Please post your beauty secrets. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible outfit, Bella. Jeans and a knit aren't something I'd ever associate with you but hell, do you look hot! Man, if I looked that good in jeans I swear I'd burn everything else I owned!
ReplyDeleteYou own everything you wear, not many women can do that. xxx
Everybody loves your necklace!! It's what really rocks your outfit. I do love a classic sweater, those seem to be the ones I keep through the years. It's so important to have some cozy clothes here in Seattle. We have to comfort ourselves sometimes. Well, most of the time.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit may not feel like "you" but it is absolutely lovely. In every respect. Though I do think the jeans as cutoffs will work excellent too.
ReplyDeleteWhen it's chilly here in the summer (which isn't usually the case at all) I wear shorts with a pullover. Or I pull on a pair of tights if extra necessary. I hate having to shift back into jeans before autumn so I resist wholeheartedly!
You ask an interesting question ... actually, for me, I'm in an a/c connundrum: I need it cold because I am very sensitive to the heat and get sick otherwise! but - if my legs get cold, then I can't walk properly. I have very often astonished people coming to my door in summer and I'm in sweats, socks, and bathrobe ;)
ReplyDeleteQuestion for you: you noted the big change in weather in your move - have you noticed any other very big differences???
I like the sweater, the amethyst color is pretty on you!, and your necklace and booties are fabulous. But I'm a huge fan of comfort, so glad you chopped off that jeans to make them work!
ReplyDeleteI think some layering is a solution for a cool summer weather, a jean shirt over dresses , t-shirt under sundresses, something funny to mix up!
besos
Great sweater. Goes perfect with those white jeans. Crisp and beautiful.

Very classy Bella. I love the white jeans on you, but I know the feeling. If it doesn't feel right, change it. The sweater is the perfect background for the art-glass necklace!
ReplyDeleteThis year I'm having to perfect the art of dressing for a chilly summer, let alone a cool one (we have had flash flooding in the last few days/storms/winds - all very un-summery). So, my approach is always one of layers. Summery dress or skirt or shorts - yes. But add tights, shirt belted or tied plus jacket or cardigan. Oh, and an umbrella - I don't go anywhere without one at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThat necklace is wonderful. Words plus style equals a beautiful, wearable piece of art.
I had a similiar problem when I moved from sunny Australia to the rainy UK - learning to embrace permanent winter dressing! Your sweater looks great on you - the colour is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and am really enjoying it! Have added you to my blog roll so it doesn't get lost in the internet shuffle!

I love Jacob! This is a fun marble knit. It's quite nice and fitting for your Emerald city style. Love those cobalt wedges!
ReplyDeleteChillier climates? I tend to just dress in layers mostly.
I like the entire outfit--especially the necklace! I think the jeans look better than you think they do. I have a similar "feeling" about skinnies. They make me feel like a sausage!
ReplyDeleteFab necklace and i am loving the hair colour.
ReplyDeleteX x
I would love for it to only reach the 70's here during Summer! It's already much too hot! Besides that, I love your sweater, especially the necklace paired with it. You look lovely :)
ReplyDeleteYou look super chic!! White jeans are the perfect pair of pants for the summer :)
ReplyDeleteI adorar this breezy summer look on you.
ReplyDeletethat wicker bag is divina, love the inscription on your shiny Goddess necklace.
