Ya'lls know I'm big goof right? Recently, I've been having a good time making these fantasy magazine covers with my favorite bloggers as the cover girls. It got my mind a thinkin' (dangerous) and my heart a pumpin'. I am so tired of seeing just the same ol', same ol' and CRAVE seeing a bit of real, and delicious diversity on some real magazine covers! Well, while I patiently wait for an Advanced Style maven/model to make the pages of Vogue, I'll keep playing with the Pic Monkey and make my own fun fashion layouts. Here's me, as flab-uous cover girl for a make-believe magazine called CATWALK.
Can you picture it?
The Catwalk is to be walked everyday, by loving what you wear, and enjoying how you wear it. It's less about trends, or what's in, but more about, ah, you guessed it, dressing as a vehicle for self expression.
I've been expressing myself lately in layered animal prints- expect to see various versions of this outfit a few more times- I love it! It is super comfy and I feel dolled up without looking over-dressed. The dress is from Karina Dresses- and I've enjoyed it so much, I actually considered ordering a second dress just like it, so I could wear it more often. The arm candy is fun too, most of the bracelets are thrift-shopped, so I think the total cost for them were under $20.
What would you choose to wear if you were going to be on the cover of a magazine?
And, would you wear a fancy pair of sunglasses like the ones offered up in this GIVE-AWAY?
Now Wearing:
- Ralph Lauren chunky hand-knit cardigan, Goodwill
- the Marissa dress in leopard, c/o Karina Dresses
- vintage brass bangles, various, thrifted
- vintage red net ankle socks, $1 clearance at Fringe
- Leather sandals, Target (last summer)
Don't forget that coupon code ROSC30 gets you $30 off your Karina Dresses purchase! |
You are a fabulous covergirl. I hope your layouts inspire a print magazine to put you in your proper place - on their cover. I can imagine you growling playfully at shoppers waiting for checkout at the supermarket. Until then, your fantasy covers are awesome. I love your purrfect outfits. Fantastic Karina dress. Meow.
ReplyDeleteBella (which by the way is a perfect name for a magazine :) , you are everything that those silly magazines with their same ol' same ol' covers aspire to be... you are sexy, eye-catching, intriguing, mysterious, open, warm, vibrant, vivacious, you are not an open book (magazine) but you make the reader want to linger...
ReplyDeleteYou are beYOUtifuL!
...and I love this ensemble! Animal print suits you, you sultry, playful feline you :)
Hmm if I was a covergirl, I think I would wear swathes of purple silk! and a fabulous hat!
Dashing! You would make a great covergirl! :) I'd enjoy reading your magazines, cover looks interesting and so YOU :))
ReplyDeleteHmm, *me* as a cover girl?? Might have to go for 20 different shades of the one colour, plus a massive multicoloured & outrageous top hat and shoes.xx.
ReplyDeleteThat cardigan looks perfect for Seattle. Sounds like cute articles in your magazine, too.
ReplyDeleteI would wear Levi's and a Indian Embroidered Tunic.
You make a fantastic cover girl rocking the leopard print and wiping the floor with those dull, personality-free, air-brushed stick insects! Bella's already the name of a UK magazine (or at least it used to be)'cos you were born to be an editor!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd have to wear my ancient denim waistcoat and enough silver tribal jewellery to make an Indian gypsy jealous! xxx
you look fabulous rocking that magazine cover, I would run to buy a magazine like this!!, love that 'Leopard for Dummies' idea and your illustrated report, so pretty leopardized!
ReplyDeletebesos & prints
Love you as a cover girl in multiple leopard print! A model with personality and heaps of personal style and individuality for once... We need more!
ReplyDeleteIt would have to be a maxi dress for me, with hair flowers and lots of bangles. Looking elegant but swearing under my breath cos I can't walk in high heels... xxxxx
With you on the cover the magazine would sell out faster than a leopard can run! The dress looks like something I should be wearing, I love it! I'll have a look at Karina dresses and see if I can find a similar model - I hope you don't mind?
ReplyDeleteYes! We *need* this magazine - what a fab cover girl you are, and you look like you are enjoying your job : > Love your new Karina dress xoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat great fun! I love the dueling animal prints!!
ReplyDeleteI love these! So much fun. Playing with cultural images is clever and entertaining.
ReplyDeleteYour new hair color gives you a Sophia Loren kind of look. Catwalk Magazine is brilliant, why hasn't anyone picked up on it yet?!
ReplyDeleteMeow! I'm awaiting the september issue of Vogue. It's a good thing my mail carrier drives a truck and doesn't walk. I always get a good laugh at all the craziness inside. Stuff that cost more than my car? Really? Guess I just love the fantasy of it all.
ReplyDeleteHa, that's a whole lot of leopard. :D I love how you paired it with pop socks. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been loving your magazine covers lately! That Karina dress is so fabulous on you! I think it's my favorite by far.
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutley fab ! I would love the sunglasses but i have too wear my ordinary glasses all the time - boooring...blind as bat !
ReplyDeleteI can picture it totally Bella. What a fun post! As for me: something bright and clashing perhaps or maybe go for the sophisticated black and white Chanel look. Then again a real good retro picture of myself would be nice too! Fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely covergirl! Most magazinecovers are surprisingly boring and repetitive.
ReplyDeleteHaha! You make a great covergirl! Or should I say more aptly - great coverwoman! Girls are lovely but wouldn't it be nice to see more women grace the covers rather than just girls? And love the double animal print - it's a real statement look. I love the little fur coat.

ReplyDeleteI love this and I'm glad that I am not the only one who does pretend covers, lol! Hhmm, for mine I'd probably wear something with lace + a great fascinator of course! You look fab my dear in leopard all over! I adore your sunglasses as well. Enjoy your week Bella.
ReplyDeleteI think it's inevitable that you'll be the cover "gurrl" of Bella Magazine. It's too good not to materialize. I'll be a subscriber for sure, maybe a contributor if you'll let me :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Karina dresses I've seen really ARE wonderful. I love that they look different on everyone, and can be conservative or funked up. I love the way you've styled yours. Leopard is the best, hands down. Well, maybe alongside black leather.....
I would wear a Coach Tour Dress in Noir from ModCloth, black stockings, and my black shoes for my cover. I couldn't wear the sunglasses, though; I would be blind.
ReplyDeleteThat said, a print fashion glossy featuring fashion bloggers as models would be cool to publish! I would buy a copy.
Darn what can I say?
ReplyDeleteOverall fierceness alert! You are one fabulous cover girl my dear!

I'd love this to be real! xxx
ReplyDeleteI love the magazine cover idea! I also love the mixing of leopard print and the heart sunnies. I think I would wear some animal print if I were on the cover of a mag :)

What Lola Wants
Leopard print on leopard print is brilliant! And you take the catwalk like no other. I can see the wheels are turning as you make this 'budding' idea a reality. It's too great an idea not to manifest!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! I can totally see it. Yes indeed. You look great!

I love the dress. It can be worn (which you've shown) so many different ways and with an array of jewelry. And a great "date" dress. Growl!
ReplyDeleteLove the LOOK!
ReplyDeletex Peter
You'd sell MANY issues as a covergirl! I love the contrasting leopard prints.
