Friends Who Shine (the Metallic Shoe Edition)

"Gold and silver shoes should be as common as the Nike. Then the world would be a happier place." -La Sophia

Get your shine on, peeps! Seems the trend of metallic shoes has walked beyond the bloggersphere, and well past the fashion magazine fortune tellers predictions. It looks like the metallic shoe trend is ACTUALLY being worn on the streets, by (gasp!) REAL women! Terri, the academic and blogger behind the most excellent Rags Against the Machine noted in a recent post that while the gold trend wasn't one presently being reported on, it does seem to actually be occurring.

Ah, the shine of it.

When I made my post on the trend of "mirrored leather" metallic shoes, I also did a call out on my Facebook page, and Twitter, for friends to send me pictures of them in THEIR shiny shoes, and I got a great response. Not just from fellow bloggers, but from a number of friends/readers as well. In fact, that's what inspired this post- I wanted to chronicle a real-time, occurring trend. Not as a prediction, but as a bonafide, happening live-while-you-breathe, kind of event.

THIS IS WHAT'S ON YOUR FEET.

Check out the lovely Jen Marie in her not just shiny metallic goddess slippers but bling-y too. She's the new Liz Taylor, her dad says. +40 fashion lover and blogger, The Dutch Lady of Fashion even did a post about the golden trend, do check it out HERE. One of my recent bloggy crushes has been wearing silver leather gladiator stilletoes and she sizzles everywhere she goes in her shiny goddess sandals.

Like the super stars they are, several +40 bloggers were going super nova in bold metallic shoes while showcasing an outfit. Shining examples are Helga, the Style Crone, + Lynne over at Practical Paralegalism. Of course the ever stylish young 'uns are getting their shine on, too, some of the stand-outs are Mary Van Note, the enchantress of Poum, and this leggy YSL pump sportin' vixen over at Fashion-A-Holic.

Tell me, how are you wearing your metallic shoes this season?
