Outfit Post: Moto Mojo

Not So Tough: Bella takes to the streets all smiley in her tweed version of Biker Babe

Ah, the quintessential rebel garment: the classic leather biker jacket. Me? Not tough enough to wear the leather version of it. While I've attempted to sport a plaid wool version in the past, and a bright red non-leather one in the future (future outfit post that is) I'm not sure a sleek black as your soul version suits me. However, a moto mock up in TWEED? Count me in the race, folks.

When I saw this tweed wool version from JACOB, I knew I had to have it. The soft wool fabric in the nubby texture makes the jacket looks less tough, but still wants to flirt with bad boys. Well, at least with MY bad boy. I've been raiding HIS closet, and enjoying his collection of skater boy/punk clothing brought out of storage from his youth. In fact, I've been "borrowing" a bit, and enjoying my new tomboy status wearing his old vintage concert T-shirts and jeans.

My biker babe-meets-long-shoreman look is pretty cute, yeah?
Red knit cap, ala Team Zissou  has been parked permanently on my head lately (baby, it's cold outside!) and was purchased via Amazon for under $5 bucks. The T-shirt and jeans were "borrowed" from the boy, and therefore free. The jacket is presently on sale, and under $50. Supplies are limited, and available to Canadian shoppers only. But boy! This jacket is hella cool. <---That would be California speak for Awesome-Canook-Tweed-Biker-Jacket. The rest of the ensemble are just some personal touches: Tweed gets tweaked with my green Plaidurday commemorative pin, and a pin from my favorite local non-profit, TWIF. TWIF is short for The World Is Fun, and it works to link volunteers and corporations with charities, and have fun while doing so. Fun also, are my warm and toasty striped socks, and the best booties on the planet (comfort and crazy cute AND thrifted for under $20 bucks make them an all time favorite): United Nude booties in black.

Yup, my moto's got mojo.

  10. Loving the fun mood of this shoot, Bella! That first shot with the text on your hands is darling. I love the structure of this jacket, I'm so glad you feel that the tweed is "you" . Isn't that the best feeling? :) ~Sarah of Sarah Hulbert Style

  12. I love this look on you and your description is perfect. One of my favorite casual looks I call "Ballard Fisherman." That involves a plaid shirt over a cool graphic tee, over worn denims tucked into some rubber boots, or rugged boots of any kind. Top it off with a beanie and it's complete!

  15. This is when E turns to her other self disdainfully and hisses, why do we not have that Clash t-shirt? E's eyes narrow. Drama ensues. Scene.

  16. Love it! I want one too! I've got a black leather one that I wear all the time. I didn't know how versatile they were.

  17. Love the tweed version! I have several versions, but I've had my black Schott for over 30 years and its still the winner most of the time (the red leopard bondage style one comes in close second.) Crap you had to make me remember I don't know where the hell some of my ancient tees are, heehee! Very cool outfit, nice and comfy too! XXX Jet

  28. Adorb! My not-leather biker jacket is made of grey sweatshirt material, discovered at the Gap, of all places.

  29. Whilst I'm sure you COULD carry off a leather biker with aplomb, should you choose, the tweed version is probably more interesting anyway. And it's always fun to steal the other half's clothes (I get accused of leaving 'boob prints' in them though - the mind boggles!)

  33. You really suit the tomboy look Bella, it's a look I've never been able to pull off sadly. I could imagine you looking really cute in a lumberjack jacket too. I remember my best friend having one in the 70's and she looked so cool in it, whereas it just didn't suit me at all. xx
