Plaid-itude

Blessed are the Pattern-mixers, for theirs is the kingdom of plaid-dom. According to those in the know, and I kid you not: PLAID IS HOT THIS SEASON. I just read all about this trending trend, breaking news: plaid for in for Fall. It's um, "revolutionary, yeah?" In the fashion cycle of nothing new under the sun, I'm not sure why the fashion peddlers have to keep re-inventing the wheel.

However, plaid is one of those things- that you're either into plaid, or you are not. You're either "mad for plaid" or "meh for plaid. There's no middle ground really. It's just a great classic pattern, like polka dots, leopard print, or pin-stripes- plaid is always in style.

#SHOPSECONDHANDFIRST: 100% Thrifted.

But that doesn't mean the you personally have to love it, or wear it. It's a personal preference. I think that's what I love best about it, a good tartan plaid is all about personal expression.
For me, plaid will always be  "in." It was the only print I loved as a child and I could, would, should wear plaid almost every day. This versatile and varied pattern can represent tradition, and rebellion, be quirky, and yet be a perennial classic. It can be many things for many people, but is almost nearly always, awesome.

There are a million ways to wear your plaid- today I'm transitioning in, my thrifted vintage red tartan kilt, and pairing it with a cotton printed summer top, and a ridiculously fun topper, basically a ratty old plaid scarf wrapped around my noggin' and playing stand-in for a hat (last seen styled here.) Adding a bit of rebel-rebel, is my pile up of leather studded cuffs and a lovely vintage clamper bracelet.

Fun? Fuck yeah. I guess it's all in your plaid-itude.

Okay, I'm a little mad for plaid myself. I have a piece of plaid fabric that I've been contemplating sewing. If plaid is Now, then I must get on it. I'm just uncertain what to sew. Your skirt is a classic. Love it! And the playful plaid heart on your top is just that...playful! This post is inspiring! Thanks bunches Bella, in the awesome plaid headwear!

Your skirt matches your suitcase! Wow! It looks good on you, but I'm not a plaid person. We had plaid sleeping bags when I was a kid, and also a plaid picnic set with plaid thermoses, and we're not Scottish. However, I might be willing to make an exception if the plaid is in blue or pink.

You live where? Plaid's never gone out of style up there. I heard a rumor that floral is the hot look for Spring.

I have no idea how this happened, but I seem to have absolutely no plaid garments at the moment, not even scarf . . . closest would be argyle socks and, well, not really close.
To be remedied soon -- thanks for the inspiration!

I adore your hat - and so your colour! I am not partial to wearing plaid (not sure why), but I like it on things like suitcases. It is one of those classic patterns that the Fashion Press declares to be "hot" every few years.

Very cute tank!! I love the preppy/punk (weird dichotomy) vibe of plaid-- it's a weird good girl/bad girl mix.

Glad you're mixing it up!
Yup, plaid is back. I think the world just hasn't had enough Seattle grunge.
I just brought out a plaid maxi from the back of the closet ... will follow your lead as soon as I replace the hem!

That hat is amazing! You look fab in plaid! But here's my question: do you and your guy wear plaid at the same time? My husband says one of us has to change if we're both wearing plaid!

Bella, you've started me on a thrifting quest for plaid pants. Well, you and Dr. Sheldon Cooper. I always think I'm too petite to wear plaid, but you make me want to pattern mix plaid like crazy!

I'm catching up on blogs, and I just want to say you get more beautiful all the time.
