You know the saying: April showers brings May flowers? Well, we are in for a blooming May. With the shift of the season, comes some changes- I'm going to fine tune what's WORKING here at the Citizen Rosebud, and what isn't. For starters, I'm considering shutting down the shutters to SHOE SHINE. I'm wondering if it's time to pass on our kicky community event to another blogger, or just retire it altogether. Any thoughts?

AND, I'm thinking of making the Secondhand First™ link-up a weekly thing- open to anybody wanting to post interesting articles and images of people, places and things that are part of shopping secondhand first. It'll be a no pressure, just a way to draw together kindred spirits, and share inspiration and information among us. That way, should you miss one week, no worries, you can always link up to the next one (I'm looking at you, dear Greetje.)

Another fantastic read was Roz's post yesterday on Fashion Revolution Day, and the social media event, #insideout. I loved seeing friends from all over participate; it's so inspiring to see so many people cry out for change! Speaking of inspiration, I can't get enough of the Vixen, ever. So good to see her and her Kinky Melon Vintage Boutique get a fair share of good press. We need more like her- too bad the mold broke when the gods made her. Another unique and compelling beauty, always puts a spring in my step whenever I visit her blog...none other than Spanish charmer, Sacramento who seems to blooms madly, 24-7.
Coming up! Aside from roses, we've got some GREAT posts slated for next week, featuring some of my favorite people, and I think you are going to love reading about them!
And now....it's YOUR time to share! Do you have a thrift store score, vintage treasure, or upcycled project that gives you joy? Outfits, interviews, or links to posts that can inspire better sustainable shopping choices are welcome! Link party stays live until April 30th, so add your url to a photo or post and celebrate YOUR Secondhand First™ values.
I love this link-up - it's so inviting! Thanks for hosting, xoxo
ReplyDeleteMe too! x
DeleteAnother wonderful community idea. Thanks Bella!

Bella, I love this idea. I used to link-up every week with a blogger who had us post our thrifted finds but that link-up eventually shut down. We could post finds, thrifting tips, essays. I think it's a great idea. And you definitely picked some inspiring bloggers to talk about. I'm all for changes. Out with the old and in with the new. Life is all about tweaking things. ReplyDeleteSince I wear SO much thrift/vintage stuff, and am a vintage jewelry fanatic, I'd love it if you did this every week.
ReplyDeleteI liked the shoe shines too, but I could never remember when they were.
This is a great link-up, but I love Shoe Shine, too!
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous beauty you are, dear! :) I enjoy both of your link-ups, but I totally understand it when things run their course and need to end. Those shoes are a true inspiration, by the way. Here is to a new beginning, Bella!
ReplyDeleteThe Second-Hand First is so easy to participate in because you can use almost anything second-hand--vintage or not! Shoe-shine is harder for me to participate in for some reason. It really depends on you. If you are not feeling it then take a break! If you have a moment where your inspo comes back--jump on it!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. You chose to focus on a couple of wonderfully creative and inspiring gals too.

tHANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOO much, my dear Bella, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
ReplyDeleteSuch an honour. I couldn´t be in better company.
99% of verything we own is second hand. it is so much fun.

Cheers for the mention, my dear!
ReplyDeleteI struggled with the shoe link-up thing as I don't have many pairs, they're bought second-hand and repaired until they literally fall apart - I rely on having an interesting personality to detract from my footwear. Vintage clothes, on the other hand, I have in kilos! xxx
Hey, Bella, I might be able to help you out with Shoe Shine - I've been thinking about doing something like that. I do post regularly (4+ times a week), so I'm not likely to slack off on it.
ReplyDeleteI've got the MIL in town so I won't be posting until late Sunday, but I'll be there for #Secondhand First!
One of my favorite link parties. Thank you so much for hosting, Bella!
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea, I dress mostly second hand these days and I have recently made some nice up cycled stuff I want to post. I am so new to blogging to though it takes me ages to do a post, so a regular slot is good!
ReplyDeleteI would love to join another Shoe Shine at Sheila's, she's cool and stylish and a very consistent blogger!!, love her attitude particularly!
ReplyDeletebesos
Weekly would be great! I participate in another blogger's weekly thrift link-up and find that I am able to hit it at least two times a month and sometimes more. A once a month thing seems harder to remember...
ReplyDeleteI vote weekly!
ReplyDeleteI think it goes great with the direction you're going with the blog.
And yay for Sheila + Shoe Shine.
