Seattle Stele: local lawn monument to Art. Photo: Bella Q |
The past is never dead, it is not even past.
I decline to accept the end of man. It is easy enough to say that man is immortal simply because he will endure: that when the last ding-dong of doom has clanged and faded from the last worthless rock hanging tideless in the last red and dying evening, that even then there will still be one more sound: that of his puny inexhaustible voice, still talking. - William Faulkner
Faulkner is so good---the past is never really ever gone with him <3
ReplyDeleteThe words of Faulkner combined with the photo of the stele which says so much without words through its modern hieroglyhs - great art, Bella, in reference to this post you created.
ReplyDeleteLove the stele, and the quote is perfect. I hope my puny inexhaustible voice keeps talking...
ReplyDeleteGreat quotation. And nice image.
ReplyDeleteI love the black and white. "Puny inexhaustible voice" is hilarious and pathetic! Xo Jazzy Jack
ReplyDeleteAlways liked Faulkner's writing. This quote is particularly brilliant, although it makes me think that at when the last "ding dong of doom" has sounded, the inexhaustible voice that will be heard will be some idiot yammering away on their cell phone...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful monument to Art, and of course the Faulkner quote. Your observant eye and sensitivity are always appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI love me some Faulkner, and of course the moody photo.
